Some companies have an easier time selling their products based on specific features, quality and attributes. Water is not one of those products. The average consumer sees little difference between one brand of water and another. What they do notice is the branding, design and advertising of each. So when H2O Technologies came to me to create their branding from the ground up, I knew it was crucial to get it right.
The original request from the client was for a logo that included an H2O molecule. Yet this more obvious solution felt uninteresting and too scientific. It also merely repeated the name instead of adding to it in a way that would create a strong and memorable visual identity.
After lots of exploration into how the letterforms of “H2O” could create an interesting mark, I landed on this solution that felt unique and eye-catching when viewed within the competitive landscape. My favorite aspect of this mark is how water is referenced in the mark itself by the inclusion of two subtle water drop shapes within the counter space of the “2.”
The identity and branding have given H2O Technologies a smart, ownable and memorable look that continues to make a great impression on their customers and partners. It has proven to be an instrumental step on their journey to launch a bottled water company that will hold it’s own against brand such as Aquafina, Evian and Dasani.
